Derwent Valley Geocaching

Sunday August 15^thstarting @ Blackhill Park

& Sunday August 22^nd starting @ Smelters Arms Car Park

You and a partner will use a GPS unit to help you find parts of a code spread out over a 3-4 mile distance. The winners will be the pairing that find the parts of the code in the quickest time and will win £25.

Don’t worry if you haven’t used a GPS before, it’s not hard and it’s possible to win even if you don’t find all the clues.

Geocaching will start at 11am and pairings will begin at half hour intervals. If you are unfamiliar with a GPS we suggest you arrive 15 mins before your start time so we can give you some simple instructions.

For these events there is a maximum of ten pairings. We will operate on a first come first served basis. The cost of entry is £7.50 per person which can be paid on the day.

NB – You will need to enter as a pairing, e.g. John and Jane Smith.

We had a wonderful time exploring the woods. The weather was dry and sunny and it was a great day to use the GPS units. Thankyou to everyone who helped out and to Geo Journeys for coming along.

Bishop Ian Ramsey had an excellent day with Geo Journeys. It was fun using the GPS units. Thankyou to all of the staff for helping us out. It was a really good day.

Castleside Primary School and Leadgate Junior School

A big thankyou to staff and children at Castleside Primary and Leadgate County Junior school. We have enjoyed the challenge of working with larger groups of children and we feel the two days have been amongst the best we have had so far.

Leisureworks @ Pow Hill

We were really impressed with the kids who came on yesterday’s trip to Pow Hill, all clues to the safecracker activity were found in good time and nice to see everyone working as a team. See you again soon!

Muggleswick Geocache

To find the Muggleswick Geocache, you need to get to GR 05233 48483. Start outside the Moorcock pub, above castleside 05037 46685.

We would appreciate feedback on the condition of the Geocache and please sign the log book. Do replace anything you take out of the cache with something of your own.

Pow Hill and Coming soon!

Pow Hill provides the setting for Geocaching next week. Hopefully there will be no muggling going on up there. Geo Journeys will also be setting up Geocaches for the general public in the near future. Be the first to find them. For more information watch this space!

Great place for Geocaching, weather stayed dry and a number of chocolate eggs were found. Thanks to Leisureworks and all the kids who took part both there and in Consett Park. Next week sees us at Pow Hill and Allensford.
